UK Longitudinal Refractive Error Database

The UK Myopia consortium aims to advance the field of myopia research by developing a new paradigm to capture real-world optometry practice data. Working in collaboration with researchers at Ulster and Aston University the consortium seeks to gather longitudinal data from the diverse paediatric UK population, developing a national database which includes myopic children undergoing myopia management. By understanding the time course of myopia as well as the factors influencing effectiveness of myopia management, the data will be used to inform clinical practice. It is envisaged that such an evidence-base would instigate a case for seeking NHS funding to support myopia management and hence improve access to myopia management provisions for all.
